Meeting of the Lithuanian Police representatives with the management of MIA RT

Yesterday, on 16 October 2014 there was a meeting of the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Tajikistan with representatives of the Lithuanian policewho arrived in Dushanbe at the invitation of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT).

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Major General Ikrom Umarzoda welcomed the Lithuanian Deputy Police Commissioner General Algirdas Stončaytis and Chief Adviser to the Police Commissioner General of Lithuania Alvydas Šakočius and expressed gratitude for assistance provided by the Lithuanian colleagues for police reform in Tajikistan.

National Police Reform Coordinator Mr. Ali Bobonazarzoda and Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the MIA Ms. Zumrad Solieva attended the meeting.

Mr. Algirdas Stončaytis shared the outcomes of police reform in Lithuania, elaborated the challenges that appeared during the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as responded to others interested questions asked by the Tajik side.

We will recall that the Lithuanian police officers arrived in Dushanbe to conduct the training on Leadership and Police Reform Management, which takes place in the premises of the OSCE OiT from 13 to 17 October of current year.

During the training, the management personnel of the MIA of the Republic of Tajikistan will become familiar with topics, such as: Police Reform Management, the police reform mission and strategy, DIA Reform Resources, police reform procedure, changes and methods of its management, purpose and objectives of the police in modern society, the organization standards and police performance, police organizational structure (architecture), police human resources management, Leadership, as a form and as a way for development management, Risk management: the police and policy, risk management, corruption, abuse and dependence, Legal support for the police work, Financial support for Police and Technical support for Police.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
