Round table on discussion of the Draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan

At the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Tajikistan (RT) and with the support of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT), the 4-day roundtable to discuss the Draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Police" was organized on 8 October 2014 in Dushanbe.

At the round table, which was opened by the Head of the Police Reform Steering Group - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Major General Umarzoda Ikrom, the Head of Legal Department of the Executive Office of the President Mr. Murodov Dustmurod, the Head of Legal Unit of the Apparatus of Majlisi milli of Majlisi Oli of the RT Mr. Mahmudov Narzullo, representative of the Committee of Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli on law and order, defence and security issues Mr. Kholov Sattor, and experts of the leading ministries and agencies took participation. The National Coordinator on Police Reform issues Lieutenant Colonel Bobonazarzoda Alijon, the heads of departments and independent units of the MIA, the staff of the MIA Academy, the Head of the OSCE OiT Mr. Markus Mueller, the Head of the Political-Military Department of the OSCE OiT Mr. Flemming Hansen, Counter Terrorism and Police Adviser of the OSCE OiT Mr. Peter Hajnik, representatives of Sub-Groups "Civil Society Assistance to Police Reform" from Dushanbe, Khujand, Gharm, Kulyab, Kurgan-Tube and Khorog, of the Police Reform National Team of the OSCE OiT and other representatives from the embassies and international organizations accredited in Tajikistan will also participate at the event.

Participants of the event will discuss the Draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Police", will share their feedbacks regarding the Draft Law. The National Police Reform Coordinator, police reform personnel and international expert from Poland Slawomir Cybulski also made presentations and speeches.

The following persons will make presentations and speeches: Major General Kabirzoda Jurakhon Head of Organizational and Inspection Department of the MIA of RT, Police Reform National Coordinator Lieutenant Colonel Bobonazarzoda Alijon, the OSCE international expert Mr. Slawomir Cybulski, Counter Terrorism and Police Adviser of the OSCE OiT Mr. Peter Hajnik, Police Reform National Liaison Officer of the OSCE OiT Mr. Khaydar Mahmadiev, representatives of Sub-Working Groups "Civil Society Assistance to Police Reform" from Dushanbe, Sughd region, Rasht group of districts, Kurgan-Tyube zone, Kulyab zone, GBAO and others.
