Drugs Liquidation

Today, on 24 July 2014 the staff of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT) has observed the process of drugs liquidation in the furnace of the "Tajiktekstilmash" factory.
The OSCE OiT was represented by Mr. Darijus Pamparas, Police Reform Project Coordinator.
The drugs liquidation campaign was organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan. In total 75 kg of heroin, 352 kg of hashish, 24 kg of opium, 28 kg of cannabis and more than 4 thousand bushes of cannabis were burned in the furnace of "Tajiktekstilmash".
The representatives from other law enforcement agencies and media were also present during the process of drugs liquidation.
It should be noted that over the last five years, the OSCE OiT within the framework of the Counter Terrorism and Police Program jointly with the law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan annually conducts a variety of activities to fight against drugs by funding cultural and mass events under the motto: "Tajikistan against drugs." The following activities were organized: "Implementation of precautionary and preventive anti-drug outreach in the cities and districts of GBAO, Soghd and Khatlon regions as well as Districts under Republican Subordination (DRS)" project, "Youth against drugs" campaign, sport games dedicated to prevention and fight against drug addiction, etc.
