Training of Trainers on effective teaching

Today, on 20 October 2014, 10-day training for 25 instructors of the Academy and Training Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Tajikistan (RT), as well as for the MIA staff that supervise the MIA educational institutions has started in the big conference room of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT).

The training on effective method of teaching from 20 to 31 October 2014 will be conducted by experienced trainers, police staff of the Czech Republic, Ms. Zuzana Armutidisova and Ms. Katerina Mickova.

This training is part of the Police Reform Strategy of Tajikistan, and the OSCE OiT as a social partner has committed to provide assistance to the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan in terms of capacity building and enhancing the qualification and competences of the MIA educational institutions instructors.

During the Police Reform process in Tajikistan, the OSCE OiT through involvement of expert from the Police Academy in Croatia has organized a needs assessment of the MIA Academy that identified the necessity for the training reform and bringing it closer to the Bologna system. The envisaged reform would entail changes in the Academy’s structure and curriculum, as well as the need to enhance the skills and qualifications of its instructors.

The purpose and objectives of this training is to enhance theoretical knowledge and practical skills of teachers in teaching methods, to familiarize the MIA staff on modern trends of education, to develop teachers’ skills and pedagogical competence, also to share the teaching practice within the MIA system of Check Republic.

The participants will consider topics, such as: the Communication Phenomena, Short Improvised Speech, Effective Training Factors, Individual Consultations, Goal and Motivation, Rhetoric, Psychological Aspects of Communication, Individual Counselling, Introduction to Stress Management /Stage-fright, Prerequisites for Proper Debates and Convincing Argument.

During the second week of the training, the participants will be familiarized with the following topics: Supervision - Training of trainers (improving the qualifications of trainers), Conflicts, Types and Methods of Fights, Pedagogical Methods of Teaching, Method - Role Games, Pedagogical Methods in Practice, Presentation by Participants, Skills, their overview and improvement, Assertiveness, Coping with Stress and Fight Against Corruption.

Upon completion of the training, during the closing ceremony participants will be awarded by certificates.
