MIA, OSCE and Saferworld train Public Council members in Khorog on police reform

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (18 August 2017) - A three-day training course, aimed at improving knowledge and skills of Public Council, on legal and regulatory acts on police reform process in Tajikistan concluded on 18 August 2017 at the Serena Inn Hotel at Khorog city. The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe organized this training in co-operation with International Organization “Saferworld” and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan (MIA).

The course brought together 16 participants from members of Public Council in GBAO region, representatives of National Coordinator’s Office on Police Reform, police officers of Regional Directorate of the MIA and regional representatives of Saferworld.

Participants discussed legal frameworks and main strategic documents of Police Reform process in Tajikistan, planned changes to the Provision on Public Councils and form of interaction between law enforcement agencies and community. Training sessions delivered at the second day, increased presentational and organizational skills of Public Council members. Obtained skills and knowledge will help Public Council members to conduct more effective and attractive presentations while conducting meetings with the community about the Police Reform process in Tajikistan.

The course was delivered by national experts on police reform and an independent trainer with experience on creating and delivering effective presentations.
