OSCE and MIA meet to discuss implementation of police reform programme in Tajikistan

The Head of international co-operation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan (MIA) colonel Zumrad Abdullozoda and Deputy Chief of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan colonel Soliev met with Mr. Dmirty Kaportsev, Adviser on Counter Terrorism and Police Issues of the OSCE Progrmme Office (OSCE) on 19 September 2017. The meeting took place in MIA office in Dushanbe.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Bahrom Abdullaev, National Police Assistance Officer of the OSCE POiD and Mr. Khaydar Mahmadiev, National Liaison Officer on police reform of the OSCE POiD.
In the meeting the sides discussed views on mutual co-operation between MIA and OSCE PoiD in the framework of police reform project in Tajikistan.
During the meeting it was noted that in the framework of police reform project police reform strategy and programme were adopted for years of 2014-2020 and much has already been done to this end.
Dmitry Kaportsev emphasized that with an aim of enhancing intellectual knowledge of cadets on inspecting accident scenes it is recommended to establish forensic classroom in the Police Academy of Tajikistan. This proposal was positively accepted by MIA representatives and OSCE staff said they will support Academy in equipping such classroom with necessary resources and tools.
At the end of the meeting the sides expressed the need for further enhancing co-operation in implementation of police reform programme in Tajikistan.
