Training on Driving in Extreme Conditions

Today, on the 17th of November 2014, 5-day training on "Driving in extreme conditions/ situations" has started in the premises of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT). Twelve MIA representatives from the special squad of the Road and Patrol Service under the Traffic Police Department and from the special subdivisions that are involved in escorting the VIPs attend the training.

The training will be conducted from 17 to 21 November 2014 by the international expert Robert Reifscheider.

This event is organized within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Police Reform signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE OiT is committed to provide an advisory assistance and support for the police capacity building. This initiative meets the needs of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and international best practices to facilitate the training and preparation of the special police services and guidelines in accordance with international standards.

  The purpose and objectives of the training are to improve the theoretical and practical driving skills in extreme situations and weather conditions while on duty. During the training, participants will be trained on modern skills and techniques to avoid or manage skidding, emergency braking, braking in curves, bypassing obstacles, sliding, aqua planning and entry/exit from turns. In the second session of the training, the participants will become familiar with the theory and practice of installing technical vehicle stopping devices such as traffic spikes, providing protection in VIP escort, chasing, speed driving, driving off-road, use of a winch, vehicle recovery, etc. The main part of the training will take place in the specialized grounds to improve the skills acquired during the theoretical part.

After the training, at the closing ceremony the participants will be awarded by certificates.
