5th Meeting of the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) Executive Board in Turkey

The OSCE Office in Tajikistan has facilitated participation of the senior management of the Police Academy of the Republic of Tajikistan at the INTERPA Executive Board Meeting that was held on 18 November 2013 in Ankara, Turkey.
For reference: International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) was established on 2 July 2011 in Istanbul (Turkey) with the participation of representatives from 24 educational institutions of law enforcement agencies out of 22 countries of the world. The Association was founded to create a communication platform for maximum cooperation and coordination between the Police Academies, aimed at effective use of available resources, sharing of best practices, conducting of scientific and academic research in the field of law and order, police education and training. Now the Association has 46 members from 40 countries.
The Executive Board of the Association was re-elected at the Second Annual INTERPA Conference in Riyadh in April 2012: Prof. Dr. Remzi Findikli (Turkey) was again re-elected as the INTERPA President. Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Sudan became the INTERPA Vice-presidents. The Police Academies of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tunisia and Brazil were elected to be a part of INTERPA’s new Executive Board.
The Executive Board meeting was attended by the following members: Turkish National Academy Dr. Remzi Findikli, Royal Malaysia Police College Dato Shabudin bin Abdul Wahab and Dr. Yew Chong Hooi, National Ribat University of Sudan Dr. Abdel Latif Ashmaig Khalifa and Dr. Hamid Mannan Mohamed Elmerghani, Saudi Arabia King Fahd Security College Dr. Fahad Bin Ahmad Alshalan, Police Academy of the Republic of Belarus Prof. Vladimir Bachylov, police Academy of Tunisia Dr. Nouri Ben Frej, and Police Academy of the Republic of Tajikistan Head Abdulhakim Rozikzoda and the Head of the first faculty of the Police Academy Mr. Ravshan Rajabov.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of Foreign Relations Department of INTERPA Secretariat Azim Özaksoy and National Police Reform Project Officer of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan Firdavs Odinaev.
During the meeting the agenda for the next INTERPA conference that will be held in Malaysia at the second half of April 2014 was discussed. The draft program offered by the Royal Malaysian Police College was evaluated, and suggestions made by Turkey, Belarus, Sudan and Tajikistan on the topics of the Executive Board Meeting and other issues were considered and discussed.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to facilitate the third INTERPA conference from 4 to 8 May 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The main topic of the conference will be "Development of Police Academy teachers’ professional skills." It was also decided to issue the first electronic journal of INTERPA on police investigations in 2014.
The textbooks in English and Russian, which will contain a detailed structure and educational systems of police organizations of INTERPA participating countries will be issued by the Police Academy of Belarus.
A fundamental decision was made on the competition on shooting from firearms amongst the students from INTERPA participating states’ institutions, the date of which will be identified later.
