Study tour to the Croatian Police Academy

From 24 to 28 November 2014 the OSCE Office in Tajikistan (OiT) has organized a study tour to the Police Academy of the Republic of Croatia, which is located in Zagreb. The delegation consisted of: the National Police Reform Coordinator of the MIA Mr. Ali Bobonazarzoda, who led a Working Group from the MIA RT, National Police Reform Liaison Officer of the OSCE OiT Mr. Khaydar Mahmadiev, representatives from the MIA Academy, MIA Training Centre, Police College under the MIA RT, as well as staff from the Department on Human Resources and work with the personal staff of the MIA.

The purpose of the study tour was to familiarize the participants with the reforming process of Croatian Police Academy, the organization of the training process in the Police College, in the Highest Police School and in the Police Academy, as well as with the procedure of students’ admission.

The Tajik delegation was welcomed by Mr. Želimir Radmilović Head of the Police Academy, Ms. Danijela Petković Assistant to Head of the Police Academy for International Affairs, as well as Mr. Marjan Žuljević Head of the Highest Police School.

Mr. Radmilović has expressed his gratitude for the visit paid by Tajik side and noted: "this visit is an indicator of high confidence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RT in relation to the Croatian Police Academy." He hopes that Tajik colleagues will gain a lot of useful knowledge from the experience of Croatian colleagues in reforming the police system of training and education.

During the study tour, participants had the opportunity to learn about the living and working conditions at the Police Academy, the Academy curriculum and learning standard police procedures and practical trainings on using firearms and physical force. A presentation on educational program for future police officers and on the process of distribution of police staff after graduating from the Academy was made for participants personally by the Head of Human Resources Department of Croatian MIA.

Upon completion of the trip, National Police Reform Coordinator from the MIA RT Mr. Ali Bobonazarzoda has thanked Croatian colleagues for organization of high level visit and assured them that the Working Group members got a lot of new information, which will be definitely taken into account during the reform of the MIA Academy in Tajikistan.
