OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry discuss co-operation

The Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, Ambassador Tuula Yrjölä met the Interior Minister of Tajikistan, Colonel General Rahimzoda Ramazon on 23 November 2017 to discuss areas of co-operation.

There was special attention on the achievements of Tajikistan’s police force within the framework of the OSCE-supported Police Reform Programme over the last few years.

On the occasion of the meeting, Ambassador Yrjölä handed over a computer server to Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry, which will be used for setting up a unified email system within the Ministry and its affiliated institutions.

"I express my sincere gratitude to the OSCE for firming up the capacity of the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan,” said Colonel General Ramazon. “We are ready to further strengthen our partnership in order to increase the trust between police and citizens to a point that is in line with international standards."

Ambassador Yrjölä said: "I am delighted to be here today to witness a strong spirit of co-operation between our two institutions. Police reform is a long process which requires patience and time, after which the police force gradually becomes the most reliable facilitator of the peaceful daily life of citizens. We will continue our co-operation and support of the Ministry in implementing the Police Reform Strategy in Tajikistan."
