Public Council members held informational session on police reform for population of Murgab and Darvaz districts

PC members held a meeting in Karkul village of Murgab district on 28 September 2017, which brought together 43 residents, such as village leadership, teachers, doctors and labor veterans.

During the meeting PC members briefed the participants about the strategy, plans and achieved results of the police reform reform programme in Tajikistan. The participants were also informed about the functioning of PCs in all regions of Tajikistan, its work and achievements in community policing.

On 23 September 2017 the PC members held a meeting with residents of Sagirdasht village of Davraz district. The information about the activity of PC in GBAO and prospects of implementation of police reform in Tajikistan were discussed in the meeting. Some 30 local residents, such as village leadership, clergy, teachers and local youth participated in the meeting. PC members informed the participants about the history, program, legal and financial aspects of police reform in Tajikistan. The participants gained an understanding about the role of the PC, community based organization and citizens in the police reform programme. There were no questions or suggestions by participants regarding police reform. PC members asked the participants to send their questions to them through through DMIA of Darvoz.
