Public Council members in Rasht region attended OSCE-organised training on Police Reform process in Tajikistan

Developing practical mechanisms of interaction between police and community was at the focus of a three-day training workshop organised by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in co-operation with International Organisation “Saferworld”. The training was held in the premises of Regional Directorate of the Internal Affairs Ministry of Tajikistan in Garm town.

Seventeen participants from members of the Public Council (PC) in Rasht region, the Interior Ministry’s Office of the National Co-ordinator, employees of Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affair of Rasht region attended the course.

The participants discussed improvements of co-operation between police and community, normative and regulatory acts on police reform process in Tajikistan and enhanced their knowledge on how to deliver better presentations on police reform issues when meeting with public.

The second day of the training has started by introducing the PC members with issues and amendments in the Provision of PCs. It was suggested by participants to organize a coordination meeting, with involvement of PC members from all regions, to discuss and agree amendments to be included in the Provision.

The third day of the training has been fully dedicated to enhancement of PC members’ skills in creation of power point slides and presentation. The exercises given by national experts in the training were very welcomed by participants.
