Public Council members in Sughd region complete OSCE-supported training on police reform

GULISTON (KAYRAKUM), Tajikistan (28 July 2017) – A training course for representatives of the Public Council in Sughd region was conducted from 26-28 July 2017 in Guliston city. The course was jointly organized by OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and international organization Saferworld.

 

Ten members of the Public Council, representatives of Saferworld, Interior Ministry’s Office of the National Co-ordinator and employees of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan in Sughd region participated at the training course.

A Memo, jointly developed by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikitan, on the procedures of providing activity reports among population by the police inspectors, was presented at the training. Effective methods to improve relation of police and community, prevention of domestic violence and countering radicalization and extremism among the youth were discussed during the training.     

Training attendants interested to know more about the curriculum reform process in Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. Training experts told about experience of the curriculum reform process in Police Academies of Croatia and Hessen (Germany).

National Co-ordinator on police reform, Major-General of Police, Mr. Farhodbek Shodmonzoda, ensured the participants that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan will strive to increase activities on police and community interaction in all regions of Tajikistan.
